What do Lutherans Stand For?
As Lutherans, we believe that in our Baptism, God has given us new life in Christ. As members of Christ's body, the Church, we live that new life daily in our congregations, synods, church-wide organizations and wherever God's work is being done. We look toGod's Word in scriptures as our guide and the basis for our teachings and beliefs. We work together with others who proclaim that Christ is Lord and who look to the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit for daily strength and guidance. We are Christ-centered in our theology and in all that we teach and proclaim.
Today the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has over 5 million members in more than 11,000 congregations. It is the fifth largest Christian Church body in the United States.
Bethel is a welcoming congregation made up of persons of all ages. Children are included in all congregational activities. As the only Lutheran Church in Cecil County, Bethel is most concerned to include persons from many backgrounds who reflect a wide range of skills and interests. We are young in spirit and committed to the growth of every member in worship, learning, and Christian service.
At Bethel we follow a traditional form of worship printed in the ELW (Cranberry Hymnal). We offer many other special worship and educational experiences, such as monthly contemporary services (see calendar). We invite you to join with us at Bethel as we work together to be the Church in this "Place of God" where we have been called to serve.
